Contingencies Included in a New Jersey Real Estate Contract

One common example of real estate contingency is a mortgage contingency. This condition of the contract states that a buyer has a specific amount of time to obtain a mortgage loan of a certain amount. Other frequently-included contingencies refer to property appraisals, title searches and confirmation of a clear title, and home-sale contingencies that allow the seller to back out of the contract for the home they are purchasing if they cannot finalize a sale on their existing home. The property appraisal contingency is often a condition required by the buyer’s mortgage company.
