A Holmdel NJ man has been charged with several sex crimes after allegedly filming an underage girl as she bathed and then sexually assaulting a different underage victim.
According to law enforcement, the suspect filmed an 11-year-old girl while she bathed in the shower. Holmdel authorities indicated that they believe the suspect was filming the girl for his own sexual pleasure.
Additionally, the suspect allegedly sexually assaulted a young girl to whom he is related. The sexual assaults reportedly occurred numerous times over the course of several years. Although Monmouth County prosecutors did not release any specific details about the victim, they did say that she was between the ages of 13 and 18 when the sexual assaults occurred.
The 59-year-old suspect, who lives in Holmdel, New Jersey, has been charged with a number of sexual offenses, including sexual assault, criminal sexual contact, endangering the welfare of a child, and invasion of privacy.
The suspect will face the very serious criminal charges in Monmouth County Superior Court in Freehold, NJ. If he is ultimately convicted on the charges of sexual assault, he would be subject to severe penalties. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2(c), a person who commits an act of sexual penetration with an underage victim to whom the offender is related can be charged with a second-degree felony. A conviction for second-degree sexual assault could lead to a sentence of 5-10 years in New Jersey State Prison. Moreover, a conviction would mean that the suspect could be required to register as a sex offender under NJ Megan’s Law sex offender registration requirements.
After being placed under arrest, the suspect was remanded to the Monmouth County Jail. The Monmouth County Correctional Institution is located in Freehold, New Jersey. The suspect was being held at the jail in lieu of a $355,000 bail amount, with no 10-percent cash option.
Additionally, the suspect was ordered to have no contact with either of the alleged victims in the event that he is able to secure his release from prison while the criminal charges are still pending.
