Prescription Drug Distribution

Holmdel NJ Prescription Drug Distribution Defense Attorneys

Holmdel NJ Prescription Drug Distribution Defense AttorneysIn New Jersey, possession of a prescription drug without a valid prescription is considered a serious crime. However, these charges and the potential penalties for those convicted become increasingly severe when the prescription drug is possessed with intent to distribute, dispensed, or distributed by an unlicensed, unauthorized individual. Like offenses involving possession, prescription drug distribution charges are graded based on the number of units or pills associated with the alleged offense. As such, those accused of these crimes face variable penalties, including a prison term ranging from 18 months to 10 years.

Notably, New Jersey’s Prescription Drug Statute found in section N.J.S.A. 2C:35-10.5 of the New Jersey Criminal Code, encompasses a vast array of prescription medications, including Adderall, Valium, Ritalin, Xanax, Vicodin, Morphine, Oxycodone, Suboxone, Percocet, Fentanyl, and Methadone. Similarly, those accused of these crimes can be found at all ages and stages of life, from the college student who gave a pill or two to his roommate, to the doctor who was writing illegal prescriptions outside of his practice. Regardless of the circumstances of the specific case, these charges can spell life-altering consequences for you and those you love.
