Matawan NJ Man Killed in Fatal Truck Accident on Colorado HighwayA Matawan New Jersey man recently died in a motor vehicle accident in Colorado.

According to authorities, the fatal truck accident occurred around 9:00 p.m. on US Route 24, near Manitou Springs and in the area of Colorado Springs, CO.

The victim, a 38-year-old man from Matawan, NJ, was behind the wheel of a 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck, headed eastbound on the highway when the accident happened. At some point, while attempting to drive along a curve in the roadway, the suspect reportedly lost control of the truck and veered to the right.

The truck slowed down a bit when it slammed into a delineator post and then a mile-marker sign; however, the vehicle did not come to a complete stop at that point. The truck kept moving and eventually reentered the highway before careening across the opposite lanes and sliding off the left side of the road. The tragic accident finally ended when the truck fell off a dirt embankment and landed in a river.

The victim, who was reportedly not wearing his seatbelt, ended up being thrown from the truck.

Emergency medical responders rushed to the scene of the accident, but they were unable to save the victim. He was pronounced dead a short time after the rollover crash.

Local law enforcement and the Colorado State Patrol are conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the fatal motor vehicle accident. Investigators believe that the Monmouth County NJ victim may have been intoxicated, with alcohol possibly playing a role in the crash.

Depending on the findings of investigators, it is possible that the family of the victim could have reason to seek damages in a wrongful death suit. For instance, if it is determined that the truck accident was caused by a faulty auto part, the victim’s loved ones may be able to sue the vehicle manufacturer in what is known as a product liability lawsuit.
