Following a month-long investigation, law enforcement officials executed a search warrant at a Neptune Township residence, subsequently arresting two men who are now facing a multitude of charges for drug and weapons offenses.
According to reports, investigators conducted a search of 7 Ash Drive on April 28th, which ultimately led to the seizure of multiple controlled dangerous substances including heroin, cocaine, marijuana, Oxycodone, and Xanax. Police also recovered weapons including a .40 caliber handgun and a 9mm handgun with defaced serial numbers.
Ultimately, police arrested 25-year-old Khalil Aziz and 30-year-old Joel Jones as a result of the search. Both men are now facing charges for: possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of Oxycodone, possession of Xanax, possession of a weapon while committing drug offenses, possession of a defaced firearm, possession of hollow-point bullets, possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Aziz is also charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a weapon, which is known as a “certain persons offense” in New Jersey. He was released from Monmouth County jail after posting bail in the amount of $235,000. As for Jones, he was released after posting $200,000 bail.
Due to the number of charges and the seriousness of the offenses, the two aforementioned defendants will face catastrophic consequences if they are found guilty in this case. In addition, Aziz’s prior criminal record will serve as an aggravating factor during sentencing if he is convicted.
