The arrests were made around 10:20 p.m. According to law enforcement, an Allentown patrol cop spotted the suspects’ vehicle near the intersection of North Main Street and Broad Street in Allentown, New Jersey. The car was allegedly traveling at a rate of speed above the speed limit and was reported missing a tail light.
While speaking with the driver and a passenger in the car, the Allentown police officer allegedly saw heroin in clear view. A subsequent search of the vehicle by Allentown police officers and NJ State Police officers allegedly led to the discovery of six bundles of heroin. This constitutes a significant amount of the illegal drug: the bundles reportedly amounted to a “brick” of heroin.
During the search of the car, law enforcement also allegedly discovered drug paraphernalia, including numerous hypodermic syringes.
The two suspects are from Ocean County: the female suspect is a 29-year-old from Brick NJ, while the male suspect is a 19-year-old male from Toms River NJ. The female suspect from Brick Township was reportedly driving the motor vehicle when police pulled her over.
The driver has been charged with multiple drug crimes, including heroin possession, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was also cited for several traffic violations, including speeding.
Meanwhile, the passenger in the motor vehicle was placed under arrest and charged with possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia possession.
After being placed under arrest, the female suspect was remanded to the Monmouth County Jail in Freehold Township NJ because she reportedly had outstanding arrest warrants out of Monmouth County. At this time, it is unclear if the arrest warrants are related to other drug crime charges. The male suspect was later released from police custody on his own recognizance.
