Monmouth County Officials to Conduct DWI Checkpoint in NeptuneMonmouth County law enforcement authorities just announced a coordinated effort to combat DWI and DUI offenses this Memorial Day weekend by conducting a DWI checkpoint in Neptune Township.

Specifically, officials from the Monmouth County DWI Taskforce and the Neptune Police Department will be conducting a DWI checkpoint on Route 33 from 11:00 p.m. on Friday, May 22nd to 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 23rd. Michael W. Palmer, who serves as the task force coordinator, as well as the chief of the Brielle Police Department, said that drivers traveling in the westbound lanes of Route 33 may be stopped and subject to sobriety evaluations.

In New Jersey, driving while intoxicated is considered an extremely serious offense, with penalties that underscore the State’s vigorous prosecution of individuals charged with these violations. Notably, DWI offenses are distinguished by the number (if any) of previous offenses for which the driver was convicted, as well as the blood alcohol content of the driver if it is his or her first DWI offense.
