Two years after an alleged shooting and robbery, a Monmouth County man has been charged with attempted murder.
Inow Rainey of Eatontown, NJ was charged on Friday October 28th, with multiple counts including: Two counts of attempted murder, one count each of first degree armed robbery, first degree unlawful possession of a handgun, second degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and second degree certain persons not to possess weapons, said the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s office.
Rainey a 26 year old male, and an unidentified accomplish approached a man and a woman in Red Bank, NJ on the night of November 6, 2014. Demanding money from the couple, Rainey allegedly shot both victims before fleeing the scene.
Police responded to a 911 call just after 9:00 pm. The caller indicated that two victims, a 29 year-old male and a 23 year-old female, had been shot near West Sunset Avenue in Red Bank, NJ. First responders rushed the couple to nearby hospitals in Monmouth County to treat life-threatening injuries. Both the victims survived the event, but the 29 year-old man suffered partial paralysis as a result of his injuries.
A two year investigation by the Red Bank Police Department and the Monmouth County Prosecutors’ Office ended last Friday with charges being filed. At the time Rainey was charged, he was serving time in Monmouth County jail related to another armed robbery incident from November of 2014. The Monmouth County prosecutor, Christopher Gramiccioni raised Inow Rainey’s bail from $575,000 to $1.175 million based on the gravity and seriousness of the new charges.
