According to reports, 53-year-old Manalapan resident William R. Compton was arrested at the Parx Casino in Bensalem, Pennsylvania at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Friday, June 19th.
Compton allegedly urinated in a slot machine coin tray before becoming aggressive with arresting officers. He was taken into custody and charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, among other offenses. After his arrest, Compton was being held at the Bucks County jail with bail set at $50,000, including a 10 percent option.
If Compton had been arrested in New Jersey, he would have been charged with resisting arrest in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:29-2. Under this statute, resisting arrest can be classified as a third or fourth-degree crime, or a disorderly persons offense, depending on the circumstances of the specific case. As such, these offenses may entail penalties ranging from 6 months in the county jail to 5 years in New Jersey State Prison.
