Investigators Uncover Marijuana Production Facility in Aberdeen

On the heels of an anonymous tip, detectives from the Bayshore Narcotics Task Force of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and officers from the Aberdeen Police Department uncovered an extensive indoor marijuana production facility in Aberdeen Township recently.

According to an announcement from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, a coordinated investigation between narcotics detectives and the local police force led officials to a drug manufacturing facility operating out of a residence on Springlawn Avenue in Aberdeen. A search of the premises reportedly resulted in the discovery of 139 marijuana plants and over five pounds of marijuana which is suspected to have been packaged for sale.

In addition, investigators seized a sizable amount of equipment used to grow marijuana, including lighting, a humidifier, and a ventilation system. The home’s resident, 51-year-old Clive M. Black III, was arrested as a result of the search. He is now facing a host of extremely serious drug charges, including first degree maintaining or operating a controlled dangerous substance production a facility; first-degree manufacture, distribution, or possession of marijuana with intent to distribute; and third-degree possession of marijuana.

First degree charges are the most serious under the New Jersey Criminal Code and are typically punishable by a term of imprisonment ranging from 10 to 20 years. In addition, charges for maintaining or operating a CDS production facility entail a minimum term of parole ineligibility fixed at, or between, one-third and one-half of the sentence imposed, and a fine of up to $750,000 or 5 times the street value of the controlled dangerous substance associated with the alleged offense.

Black is being held in lieu of bail amounting to $100,000 with no option 10-percent at Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold Township. Clearly, he is facing severe consequences if ultimately found guilty in this case.
