Fatal Car Accident on Monmouth County Highway Leads to Death of Teenage Girl

In a tragic turn of events, a fatal car crash that occurred on a stretch of highway in Monmouth County recently claimed the life of a teenage girl. The car accident remains under investigation as officials attempt to determine the cause.

Thus far, New Jersey State Police have released limited information related to the accident, which occurred just at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 5th, on Interstate 195 in Upper Freehold. The driver, a 17-year-old girl whose identity remains undisclosed, was driving eastbound in the highway’s left lane near mile marker 9 at the time of the crash.

In an announcement, New Jersey State Police Sergeant 1st Class Gregory Williams said that the single-car crash occurred after the young woman lost control of her 2001 Toyota Camry, which veered off the road and collided with a tree. First responders arrived at the scene to find the driver already deceased. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:59 a.m.

Now, investigators from the New Jersey State Police Fatal Accident Investigation and Crime Scene units, as well as the New Jersey Department of Transportation, are tasked with identifying the cause of this devastating accident. The right lane of Interstate 195 was closed during the accident investigation, which is ongoing.
