Aberdeen NJ Man Accused of Possessing, Distributing Child Pornography

September 20, 2016

An adjunct professor at a college in Middlesex County has been accused of possessing child pornography on a computer at his residence in Aberdeen, New Jersey.

According to law enforcement, the suspect used at least one computer at his Aberdeen NJ home to illegally download and upload illicit sexual images of juveniles. Police received a tip about the suspect’s alleged illegal activities and subsequently opened an investigation that involved the Aberdeen Police Department and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office. Investigators eventually obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s home and seized a laptop computer.

The suspect is a 56-year-old man who resides in Aberdeen NJ and who teaches as a professor as colleges located in Middlesex County and Raritan Valley. The suspect used to be employed at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, NJ.

The suspect’s role as an educator makes his alleged sex crimes even scarier than they would otherwise be. Another exacerbating factor could be the suspect’s reported volunteer job as a coach for a girls’ softball team in Aberdeen and Matewan. The suspect’s position with the softball league reportedly placed him in close proximity to juveniles.

Investigators are concerned that the suspect may have victimized juveniles in addition to possessing child pornography. Authorities are asking any victims of the suspect to come forward and contact Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office detectives at 732-431-7160.

The suspect has already been charged with numerous crimes, including distribution of child pornography, possession of child pornography, and endangering the welfare of a child.

After being placed under arrest and processed, the suspect was remanded to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold Township, NJ. He was being held at the jail in lieu of a bail amount of $110,000. If the suspect does eventually secure his release by posting bail, he will be prohibited from any unsupervised contact with juveniles. Additionally, the suspect has been barred from using the Internet for any purposes while the criminal charges against him remain pending.
