Manalapan Chief of Police Marsala recently announced that there have been no new developments in the investigation, which began after the aforementioned incident on Sunday, May 31st at approximately 11:30 a.m. in the vicinity of Lambs Lane.
Three male juveniles, between the ages of 10 and 13, were reportedly approached by a male suspect who has been described as a white, in his late 50’s, with brown and gray shoulder-length hair, a mustache, and bags under his eyes.
The man is said to have approached the boys in a 4-door silver sedan, requesting their assistance with finding his cat. They immediately fled the scene, after which authorities were notified. If a suspect is ultimately identified, he may be charged with luring, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:13-6.
Unbeknownst to many, luring, enticing and solicitation charges in New Jersey are extraordinarily serious sexual offenses. In fact, these offenses are classified as second-degree crimes, punishable by a term of incarceration ranging from 5 to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison, as well as mandatory sex offender registration under Megan’s Law and the potential for life-long community supervision.
